Nurse-midwives provide prenatal, labor and delivery,
postpartum, and gynecological care.

Your CNM will encourage you to ask questions and teach
you how to maintain good health habits and self-care practices for disease prevention.
|
|
- Annual exams including Pap smear, breast and pelvic examination, breast self-exam education, mammogram, laboratory services
as needed, and general wellness counseling.
- Family planning services with individualized recomendations and education
on all types of birth control.
- Preconception and prenatal care to help you achieve optimal health before and during
your pregnancy. Including screening for potential problems and continuous care to monitor both you and your growing baby.
- During
labor and delivery your CNM will offer birthing direction and guidance, continuously monitor your progress and provide you
with encouragement and emotional support.

- Postpartum care involving advice and education on breast feeding and infant care as well as attending to your optimal
postpartum recovery.
- Perimenopausal and postmenopausal consultations to help manage symptoms and provide options
for treatment including hormone replacement therapy.
- All nurse-midwives consult with physicians if there is a problem
that may put a woman at risk.
- CNMs can write prescriptions for medications and vitamins.
- Nurse-midwifery
care is covered by private insurance carriers, Medicare, Medicaid and many managed care programs.
